Introduction - Willo's Campaign

Top level Gæa Campaign Notes

GÆA
Our current Gæa campaign, as GM'd by Willo.

Our group has been adventuring together for many years. Players have come and gone, but the core group has remained the same for some time. The current lineup consists of four characters - Fagan Abrash (a female entertainer from Sylmar), Valentia (a barbarian fish wife from the far northern Windy Island), Dantowax (a very well traveled rogue, original occupation and homeland unknown) and Logar of the Light Foot (a primitive hunter from the snowy plains north of the Northice mountains - my character).

To cut to the chase, it is about eleven years since the chaos horde engulfed much of Gaia. Their army was broken, driven off by the host of Tiberius the Protector. The group of friends found themselves in the coastal town of Holstein in Drakor. Since the chaos war, the hinterland of Drakor had become a wilderness, or more so than before, with the odd chaos creature which had survived wandering about. Dantowax of the many travels claimed knowledge of an ancient city to the south, across the Great Southern Peaks. As Drakor had been devastated by the chaos war, he suggested that we purchase wagons and goods and create a trade route to the ancient city. The rest of the party readily agreed.

Much travelling and a few adventures and battles later, the party had given up on ever finding a passage over the immense mountain range. They decided to head back to the coast and find a way around the mountains. Travelling roughly south east, they followed the river that wound its way along the base of the foothills, when suddenly they found themselves under fire by some sort of goblin. Logar, usually cautious, became enraged and ran up up the hill to where the archer was hidden. After a brief scuffle, the archer expired with a broken neck, care of Logar's spear shaft. No other foes threatened the party, who by now had left the horses and carts and joined Logar. Soon enough, a cave entrance was found. It lead into a warren of tunnels, possibly a way through the mountains! The party decided to investigate. after some wandering about, they came across a sleeping goblin. Unfortunately a attempt to capture the creature went awry and worse, he had magic on him and drew a flaming blade, before moving inhumanly fast to escape, taking Fagan with him!

After a brief, yet heated debate, the rest of the party set off to find and rescue Fagan. After some blundering about and a few close calls, Fagan was found, imprisoned by 12 goblins. Logar, being the light footed hunter, skulked into the shadows and snuck close. Slowly, he reached out with his spear and disemboweled an unsuspecting beastie. The plan was to continue to skulk in the shadows and pick them off one by one, that was until Dantowax the impatient charged into battle. A melee followed which saw Logar come out of the shadows to fight. Dantowax the brash became the first victim of his own stupidity, loosing his head to a critically swung scimitar. Fagan and Logar battled on, somehow either dispatching goblins by opening their guts or beheading (coincidence I assure you). yet the numbers were against the two and soon Logar had reason to regret not buying greaves for his arms. A broken left arm forced him to drop his long spear and continue to fight with his dagger. More damage was received vi a his fortunately armoured chest, but it was too late. Logar expired of blood loss before the battle ended. He prayed to the Snow Leopard, his clans sacred one, but in vain. His life expired and he fell into the gory muck amongst the goblins who he had so recently killed. Valentia finished the last two goblins off and rescued Fagan, whose guard fled.
