Trying to find a foothold

Hi I'm new to this particular site, but it looks like something I've been trying to find for a while now. However its a little hard to figure out where everything is at, simply put, what do you think I should look around here for?
I've been playing RQ for a while now (Mostly RQ II), and I'm working on trying to follow my dad's footsteps by creating an area for it. (Dad wrote City of Lei Tabor, lesser know issue from the Judge's Guild) So where can I get some ideas and what exactally is discussed here, its kinda confusing.
EDIT: Go figure my dad beat me here. Lol.
