That's whats really cool about rules that take into account pointed vs blunt vs slash (vs fire) damage rules as far as armor and weapons go, like Harnmaster rules for example. At least then soft quilt armor actually helps against blunt weapons but not chainmail etc. This adds some serious realism and also extra tactics in battle making for a more "duelling" combat system.
