I was introduced to RPG's with RuneQuest around 1992. I bought all my friend's RQ-stuff shortly after, and it became my first RPG. I'd not read any Tolkienmaterial by the time I started reading on the RQ sourcebooks, and since the Glorantha setting differs quite a lot from Tolkien/AD&D/ Warhammer, I am in the uniqe situation to have my fantasy "untainted" from those inspirationsources. This have probably been why the players I've been gaming with have liked to game with me as much as they have.
Now my ideas of what fantasy is have been tainted by all the above, but "my" picture of what a fantasy-setting is remains quite intact, somthing I value greatly and try to preserve. As the time went by, I was introduced to many other RPG's I've been playing around 15 different RPG's I think, so don't get me wrong; I love both Warhammer and the mother of fantasy;Tolkien. It's just that beeing sheltered from the main fantasy pantheon until reacently have made "my" Glorantha "pure" and somthing different, not a copy of the standard clichè. (By the way, I love your suggestion to make your elves bisexual, Tony!)
So I've been playing RQ in Glorantha more or less constantly from 1992 until now. I have most of the Glorantha books + Land of Ninja, Eldrad, Daughters of Darkness and Sanctuary.
I am so lucky that I live in the same town as 3 of my RPGaming friends, and we have "sacred gamingsessions" every tuesday from 17.00 to 00.00, when our kids and wives have to cope without us... So I have the luxury to have been playing regularely with the same core of people for 11 years!
